Rifle Dynamics has launched British Desert DPM Maglads magazines, featuring disruptive pattern material used by the UK Ministry of Defense since the 1960s. The magazines are customizable and showcase popular camouflage patterns, including the Tiger Stripe. The original Desert DPM dates back to the 1980s and has significant military history.
Rifle Dynamics state “Disruptive Pattern Material (DPM) has been in use with the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD) since the 1960s with numerous variants and updates to the pattern and uniform cuts over the past 50 years culminating in the ‘universal’ Multi Terrain Pattern (MTP) in the early 2010s.
The specific origin of Desert DPM dates back to the 1980s, initally a 4 color version was made, soon abandoned, and sold off to other countries like Iraq. Fast forward a few years to the build up of the Gulf War, the UK MOD realized that issuing the same pattern they sold to the Iraqi army might cause a few problems and developed a distinctive two color version of the pattern that’s been in use until MTPs adoption. A few countries such as Bahrain, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia have developed thier own Desert DPM variants (typically 3-4 colors), however in my opinion they’re not as cool as the orange dominant variant from Oman.
Mag Lads magazines are a fun way of getting something custom from Rifle Dynamics, yet with a much shorter lead time. These custom mags feature multi-toned lasered, classic camo patterns. The intorductory camo pattern for these MAGPUL magazines is the one of best sellers of the previous AK47 mags, the Tiger Stripe. One of my favorite patterns, takes me back to loving the smell of napalm in the morning.”
