When GiantMouse approached Chris Pontius about designing a knife together, the goal was to create a knife that reflected Chris’s approach to life—adventurous, practical, capable, and always ready for whatever comes next. Chris shared ideas gathered from decades spent traveling the world, living out of backpacks, exploring remote places, spending time outdoors, and relying on gear that had to perform when it mattered. To transform those ideas into a finished design, GiantMouse co-founder and legendary Danish knife designer Jesper Voxnaes met up with Chris in Copenhagen and together they put pencil to paper. Chris brought the experiences. Jesper brought the design expertise. The result is The Pontius—a knife inspired by adventure and refined through world-class design.
The Pontius wasn’t designed around a specific activity. It was designed around a lifestyle. The kind of lifestyle where you don’t always know where the day will end. Whether you’re heading out on a road trip, spending a weekend at camp, fishing with friends, tackling projects around the house, or simply navigating everyday life, The Pontius was designed to be the knife you actually carry. Chris pushed for a blade shape with a generous cutting edge and plenty of belly, creating a knife that excels at everything from cutting rope and breaking down cardboard to food prep and camp chores. At the same time, the knife needed to remain comfortable, practical, and easy to carry every day. The result is a knife that feels substantial in hand while remaining slim enough to disappear into a pocket, and is ready to tackle any cutting tasks you may face on your wild, or mild, adventures!
