Cold Steel launches the new 5-Max Scout large format folder knife

Cold Steel has introduced the 5-Max Scout, a large format folder knife that retains 90% of the original 5-Max’s performance while using more modest materials. It features a 5-inch AUS10 steel blade, a glass-filled nylon handle, and Andrew Demko’s Tri-Ad locking mechanism, ensuring durability and reliability for outdoor tasks.

The 5-Max Scout is an evolution of our popular 5-Max folder. The same aggressive size and style, but built from modest materials. A 5″ AUS10 Steel blade with a stonewashed finish instead of S35VN and glass-filled nylon handle scales instead of G10. This lets us offer you a rugged, large-format folder with 90% of the original’s performance at less than half the price. Have no fear, this new, more modest version still has stout stainless steel liners and is equipped with Andrew Demko’s groundbreaking Tri-Ad locking mechanism, which has passed every one of our grueling shock and impact tests and has gone on to hold 600 lbs. of free-hanging weight with no damage!
