Palmetto State Armory introduces the Saber AK series, comprising the GF5 and GF4 models built from Romanian parts kits. Key features include cold hammer forged barrels, DLC coated carriers, and various Cerakote finishes. The GF5 supports a tactical side folding receiver, while the GF4 shares specifications with minor differences.
Palmetto State Armory states “We plan on having two versions of the Saber AK. A GF5 version, and a GF4 version. The heart of the Saber AK is built around a Romanian parts kit. It will feature a Romanian trunion, a Romanian bolt, a Romanian carrier, a Romanian rear sight base, sight leaf, dust cover, and recoil spring. One of the things that we’ve done differently on the Saber line of AKs is is that we got the carrier recoated with a DLC coating as well as matching ALG trigger. The Saber GF5 AK will feature a B5 Ral 10000 stock and matching grip. It will also come with a Romanian mag that we Cerakote in burnt bronze, a Soviet arms lower handguard that is Cerakoted in burnt bronze, and a railed upper gas tube that is Cerakoted in burnt bronze. All Saber GF5’s will feature an FN cold hammer forge chrome line barrel and topped off with a Saber Plan B muzzle device. To finish it all off, we apply a high heat OD green cerakote to the rest of the gun. One of the other things that we’ve done differently on the Saber AKs is that we’re using a dimpled receiver as well as swell neck rivets. We also modified the front trunion to accept the sidefolding latch. So if you want to change your stock to something that will lock into the latch, you can. Now what we did on the Saber AKG4 is we kept everything the same as the GF5 with the exception of the barrel and the handguard. So the handguard’s going to come with a matching B5 RAL 8000 color to match the stock and the grip. And then the barrel is a GF4, which is an in-house produced cold hammer forge chrome line barrel.”
