MK Machining releases the Dark Mountain Arms Stowaway Core Chassis

MK Machining is refining the ultra-compact backpack-gun market with the introduction of the Dark Mountain Arms Stowaway Core Chassis. Building upon the foundation of their original Stowaway system, the Core strips away the integrated 9×19 magazine storage well to achieve a sleeker, lower-profile geometry that easily integrates into packs and minimalist storage bags. Spanning a 10-inch overall length, the Core expands usable fore-end space and integrates an M-LOK mounting interface for accessories, significantly improving handling and control compared to factory configurations without adding unnecessary bulk. Designed and tested for both 5.7×28 and 9×19 variants, the universal Core chassis fits across all Dark Mountain Arms Stowaway sizes and models, and ships bundled with an ergonomic aftermarket charging handle to enhance manipulation on the minimalist platform.

The Dark Mountain Arms Stowaway Core Chassis was designed around the same idea that makes the Stowaway appealing in the first place: keep it compact, simple, and easy to take with you.

Built from the same proven chassis foundation as our original Dark Mountain Arms Stowaway Chassis, the Core improves ergonomics, handling, and usable fore-end space while eliminating the integrated 9×19 magazine holder. The result is a cleaner, lower-profile chassis that minimizes bulk and expands compatibility across all Dark Mountain Arms Stowaway sizes and models.

It gives you more control where you want it without losing the compact, minimalist character of the platform.

The Stowaway is built to go places larger setups won’t, so an upgrade shouldn’t work against that advantage.

By removing the integrated magazine-storage section found on our original 9×19 chassis, the Stowaway Core Chassis maintains a streamlined profile that’s easier to work into a pack, bag, or compact storage setup.

Rather than adding features simply for the sake of adding them, the Core focuses on the essentials: better ergonomics, better handling, and useful mounting capability with minimal added bulk.

The 10″ chassis creates a more substantial and comfortable fore-end than the factory configuration, giving you more usable surface area and greater control over the platform.

An integrated M-LOK fore end also provides a clean mounting interface for compatible accessories without requiring an oversized chassis system.

The goal is simple: make the Stowaway more comfortable and functional to use while keeping the overall package true to its compact design.

Removing the model-specific magazine holder does more than reduce the chassis profile. It also allows the Stowaway Core Chassis to fit all Dark Mountain Arms Stowaway sizes and models.

That makes Core the broad-fit option for customers who want MKM chassis ergonomics without being tied to the 9×19-specific magazine-storage feature.

The Core Chassis was designed and tested using 5.7×28 and 9×19 Stowaway models.

Every Stowaway Core Chassis includes our ergonomic charging handle, giving you a larger, more comfortable interface for operating the Stowaway.

It’s a simple addition, but one that complements the overall goal of the chassis: making a deliberately minimalist platform easier and more comfortable to use.
