Mitchell Defense has launched the CP-1 DualCool™ AR-15 handguard, the first 3D-printed, dual-layer design for optimal thermal control. Made from A20x alloy, it features an air-gap core that minimizes heat transfer and integrates grip texture for enhanced control. It supports M-LOK and Picatinny functionality while ensuring rapid cooling between shots.
Mitchell Defense states “The DualCool™ CP1 Handguard is the first 3D-printed, dual-layer AR-15 handguard engineered for extreme thermal control. Built with A20x alloy, its air-gap core slows heat transfer, keeping the outer shell cool longer and cooling faster between shots. Integrated grip texture ensures control without compromising M-LOK or Picatinny function.
The inner shell absorbs heat from the gas block, while the engineered air gap prevents transfer to the outer layer. This makes the DualCool™ one of the most effective heat-resistant AR-15 rails available. Compared to traditional rails, the DualCool™ surface stays cooler longer and sheds heat rapidly after firing. Permanent grip texture is formed directly in the metal for maximum control, even with gloves or wet hands. Unlike add-on panels, it won’t shift or wear.
Optimized placement ensures the grip pattern never interferes with M-LOK slots, allowing smooth mounting for lights, grips, and other accessories.
“Dual Cool” isn’t just engineering — it’s a nod to the Marine Recon community, where earning both Airborne and Combat Diver qualifications earns the Dual Cool title. This handguard carries that same elite spirit of mastery.”
