Taylor Freelance has introduced new magazine extensions for the Cot, UZI, and UZI Pro. These extensions address compatibility issues as each magazine type varies in design. The enhancements include a last-round-hold-open feature and adjustments in dimensions, improving functionality across these popular models used by shooters nationwide.
Taylor Freelance states “Shooters from sea to shining sea use 32-round “Colt” and “UZI” mags. One of their challenges is that while they look the same, “Colt” mags are not “UZI” mags, and “UZI PRO” mags are neither. Happily, we have extensions for all three! So what’s the deal? It’s a matter of depth. Original UZI mags are a simple box shape — and don’t lock the slide back. To improve on the UZI, Colt added a last-round-hold-open tab on the back of the follower — and a track down the back of the magazine to fit the tab. Thus a Colt basepad has to be longer front-to-back than an UZI. Similarly, when IWI released the new UZI PRO magazine, they improved on the Colt by making the tab and track-down-the-back smaller. Thus, it’s longer than an original “UZI” but shorter than a “Colt.”
