Mount the action rod in your vise. Then, simply slide it through the upper receiver and into the barrel extension. This provides a stable base when installing barrel nuts and muzzle devices on your upper. Since you are locked into the barrel extension, you also prevent applying stress to your upper receiver, avoiding damage to your upper while you torque the barrel nut or tighten your muzzle device.”
