Cimarron Firearms in their latest releases shows off the 1873 John Russell Winchester lever-action rifle.
Cimarron Firearms state ” Cimarron Firearms, the premier name in authentic Old West firearm replicas, expands its line of Hollywood Western Firearm replicas with the new 1873 John Russell Winchester lever-action rifle. The 1873 Winchester rifle was synonymous with American Western history, and often considered “the gun that won the West.” Carried by lawmen, settlers, outlaws, ranchers, and Native Americans, Cimarron pays tribute to the lead character in Elmore Leonard’s book-turned-move, directed by Martin Ritt: “Hombre.”
The lead character, exceptionally portrayed by Hollywood A-lister, Paul Newman, was raised by Apache Indians and has returned to a small Arizona town to collect an inheritance. Leaving town, he boards a stagecoach in which the movie’s drama takes place. Known only as Hombre, Newman is relegated to riding up top with the drive because of his Apache background. Stagecoach robbery, duplicitous passengers, kidnapping, outlaws, and a final shoot-em-up entail. Only through the quick action of our hero, Hombre, and his hidden and highly accurate 1873 Winchester lever-action is the kidnapped victim rescued, and the passengers saved. When the smoke clears, Hombre lies mortally wounded, as a survivor asks, “I would at least like to know his name” and the coach driver mournfully replies, “His name was John Russell.”
Like every firearm replica made by Cimarron Firearms, the 1873 John Russell is no exception and was designed based on an original Winchester 1873. The Cimarron John Russell lever-action features a 20” heavy barrel made from forged steel with a hand-rubbed oil walnut stock and forend, and a classic old metal finish. Available in either .357 Mag. or 45LC for an MSRP of $1,780.70, the Cimarron Firearms 1873 John Russell rifle can be ordered from your local dealer.”
