Constellation Response & NATAK Mesh released updated Nucleus Com Hub

Constellation Response and NATAK Mesh launched an updated Nucleus Com Hub, an all-in-one communications device. Notably, it features zero-touch ATAK integration for seamless connection without setup. Users benefit from enhanced range and security, including AES-256 encryption. The device supports both ATAK and standard Meshtastic operation for diverse communication needs.

Constellation Repsonse states “Constellation Response is proud to announce the latest version of the Nucleus, an all-in-one communications hub built by Natak Mesh for teams that need to stay connected when conventional infrastructure isn’t available.

The updated Nucleus brings a redesigned case, improved antenna configuration, and — most significantly — zero-touch ATAK integration. ATAK (Android Team Awareness Kit) is a battlefield-proven mapping and situational awareness application used by military, law enforcement, and emergency responders. Previously, getting a mesh radio to talk to ATAK required plugins and manual setup. With the new Nucleus, users simply connect to the device’s WiFi and both radios — a long-range LoRa radio and a high-speed WiFi mesh adapter — are automatically recognized by ATAK. No plugins. No configuration. It works out of the box.

For operators who prefer standard Meshtastic operation (a popular open-source LoRa mesh protocol), the ATAK bridge can be toggled off with a single switch, making the Nucleus equally at home in non-TAK environments.

The onboard Raspberry Pi runs OpenTAKServer, keeping entire teams synced in real time without touching a cell tower or commercial server.

The Nucleus also serves as a foundation for a fully private IP network. Reticulum and Jami bring encrypted mesh networking, voice calls, text, and video to teams running entirely on hardware they own and control — no cell towers, no cloud services required.

LoRa range extends to 8+ miles line-of-sight, while the WiFi mesh reaches 0.5–1 mile in ideal conditions — up to 6,000 times faster than LoRa for passing photos, video, and voice data. All communications are protected with AES-256 encryption on LoRa links and WPA3 on WiFi.”
