SK Customs state “SK Guns®, the Nation’s only series-driven, limited-edition manufacturer of custom firearms, is proud to announce the launch of its latest series. Productions in the Mayan Empire series will be limited runs of 500 Colt 1911s chambered in .38 Super, and each pistol includes a special engraved edition number.
The Mayan Empire, renowned for its architectural marvels and profound cultural achievements, flourished from approximately 2000 B.C. to 1500 A.D. in modern-day Mexico and Central America. The civilization’s legacy includes towering pyramids, elaborate carvings and a deep understanding of astronomy and the natural world.
“This new series celebrates a culture that was far ahead of its time and set the groundwork for the cultures of modern Mexico and Central America,” said Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Guns. “The first edition of the series honors one of the longest and most impactful eras of the empire. Many of the great innovations and architectural works of this period still exist today, and this installment is just one of many ways that the legacy of this empire lives on.”
The initial production of this series is a homage to K’inich Janaab’ Pakal, or Pakal the Great, who ruled the city-state of Palenque from 615 A.D. for nearly seven decades. His reign marked a golden age of cultural, architectural and scientific advancements, with the construction of grand temples like the Temple of the Inscriptions, which houses his elaborately carved sarcophagus.
The left and right sides of the pistol’s slide are adorned with engraved pyramids, bordered in 24k gold, accompanied by scrollwork depicting Mayan beliefs, hieroglyphics and shaded textile patterns. The top of the slide features representations of Pakal the Great, additional hieroglyphics and the Mayan calendar.
Crafted with precision, the frame, slide, barrel and hardware are highly polished, showcasing 24k gold accents in select areas. The controls are finished in a deep Colt Royal Blue. Completing this historical masterpiece are presentation-grade black grips, inset with jade-like medallions made from Kirinite and gold.”
