KAK Industry introduces a production version of a special project lower, showcasing both stripped and complete lowers in the M16A4 transition Overstamp clone. This model features significant upgrades from the M16A2, including a flattop upper and enhanced handguard, while maintaining the M16’s burst fire control. It highlights a key evolution in military rifle design.
KAK Industry states “Special project lower we turned into a production item.
During the late 1990’s the M16A2 started getting an upgraded to the M16A4 pattern. These changes consisted of a flattop upper for optics mounting and a different railed handguard for laser aiming devices and other accessories, compared to the older carry handle upper with A2 sights and plastic clamshell style handguards. During the transition and upgrade process newer uppers were fitted to existing lowers in the field. The same 3 shot burst fire control group was retained, but the lowers were overstamped on the A2 markings with A4, to designate them correctly.. This change to the lower was cosmetic, but represents an interesting period in time when the M16 family of rifles reached it’s final form before being superseded by the shorter m4 version.”
