Discreet Ballistics has announced the pre-order phase for its new Selous 121gr 9mm ammunition, designed for defensive use. This ammunition features a unique solid copper projectile that ensures large expansion while preserving structural integrity through various barriers. Available in P, +P, and +P+ loadings, it aims to enhance incapacitation effectiveness.
Discreet Ballistics state “For the past nine years Discreet Ballistics has been focused on producing the most effective subsonic centerfire rifle ammunition available. The thought of producing defensive handgun ammunition was never a consideration until recently. We began observing a trend in modern handgun terminal ballistics which places more value on penetration at the expense of projectile expansion. This trend runs counter to what we have been observing in our live tissue tests over the years; namely that large expansion with adequate penetration generates quicker incapacitation.
Today we are excited to announce we will be opening pre-orders for our new 121gr Selous 9mm loads. This defensive handgun ammunition uses a brand new projectile that was developed using the same proprietary technology we use in our subsonic rifle ammunition. Built into the machined solid copper projectile is a hinge mechanism which ensures large expansion in tissue while maintaining its structural integrity through barriers such as fabric, drywall, and auto glass.
We are offering the new 121gr Selous 9mm loads in P, +P and +P+ loadings. Our standard pressure rounds (P loadings) will be loaded in traditional brass casings. Our +P and +P+ loadings will be loaded using NAS3 hybrid cases.”
