Mossberg states “Mossberg has added a 590M Standoff pump action to its line of 590 magazine-fed firearms. This 12-gauge, 2.75-inch pump action features a 14.25-inch heavy-walled, standoff barrel and is fed from the first production shotgun double-stack magazine. This well-designed platform provides better balance and weight distribution combined with greater capacity in less magazine length than competitor’s single-stack magazines. And the 590M offers added versatility with the convenience of 5, 10, 15, 20-round accessory magazines.
The innovative design of Mossberg’s 590M Mag-Fed platform starts with the detachable magazine’s integral stabilizing ribs which engage the magazine directly to notches engineered into the receiver for a positive lock-up. The all-steel magazine release button and housing are optimally positioned in front of the trigger guard and will not interfere with cycling of the action.
The 590M double-stack magazines are constructed with hardened-steel feed lips, over-molded steel shell ramps and an anti-cant, rounded follower to ensure reliable feeding. Additional features include an easy-grip, molded external shell; proprietary self-lubricating polymer magazine body; heavy-duty ASTM-A-228 music-wire magazine spring for prolonged service life; removable floor plate for ease of cleaning; and durable black oxide finish on the steel components.”
