Luth-AR has recently expanded on their AR-pattern offerings with new 1-8 1/2″ Fractional twist AR pattern barrels.

For many decades it has been the norm to make barrels with whole-number twist rates versus fractional twist rates. (In other words, 1 twist in 7″ (1-7) or 1-10, 1-9, etc.) For the AR market it has primarily been 1-7, 1-8, 1-9, 1-12 twist rates offered over the last 60 plus years.
The AR market typically expects that the heavier bullets such as 75, 77, 80 grain bullets shoot more accurately in a 1-7 or 1-8 twist barrel. Conversely, the 1-9 twist has been considered the standard for recreational shooting of the 55, 60, 62, 68 and 69 grain bullets.
We at Luth-AR decided that a 1-8 1/2 Fractional Twist AR Barrel™ may offer a more inclusive accuracy bandwidth for 55 to 77 grain bullets.
Other fractional twist barrels have been made from a Custom standpoint but not from a Production cycle at affordable prices.
Our results have been confirming. As you can see in the images below, the 55 grain and 75 grain Ammo Inc., factory loads shot very nicely. Based on these results, we are proud to introduce the new evolution of the 1-8 1/2 Fractional Twist AR Barrel by Luth-AR.”
