Walker Defense Research has announced their latest in muzzle devices with the Nero 762 which is a hybrid muzzle brake and compensator.

Walker Defense Research states “The NERO® 762 was created to challenge the status quo.

Building on the technology first seen on the NERO 556, the NERO 762 is purpose-built to transform the recoil impulse of the 7.62x51mm NATO/.308 Winchester on the AR-10 platform to one with virtually no muzzle rise.

Traditional .30 caliber muzzle brakes have often forced the user to trade recoil reduction for concussion.

We designed the NERO 762 using computational fluid dynamics to provide exceptional muzzle control while also managing felt concussion for the shooter.

For extreme durability, we chose to construct the NERO 762 from Inconel, a nickel-chromium superalloy used frequently in aerospace for extreme environments (and especially for high-heat applications).

Due to its unorthodox shape (both inside and out – and we blame fluid dynamics for this), we turned to bleeding-edge technology to produce an otherwise impossible-to-machine shape – an exotic form additive technology called direct metal laser sintering, or “DMLS”, made it all possible.”
