The SLR-1 does in-fact take a CR123 battery but, the SLR-1 can be ran without.

Another amazing feature of the SLR-1 red dot optic is its ability to change the red dot’s output power.

Transitioning from a dark room to full-on sunshine outside, the SLR-1 will react by bright-ing the red dot.
