Built in 1972, the only serialized pair to have left the Colt factory, all other manufactured units were built to be used abroad by what Colt describes as “clandestine services”, these were prototypes that were eventually built for use by the CIA. It is a disguised firearm that fits in the palm of the users hand and fires a .38 caliber ceramic projectile. It has 2 barrels, is loaded from the muzzle and fires electronically for ultimate reduction in sound signature.
Official model designation given was XPALMPISTOL, registered by Colt in the NFA registry as an AOW (any other weapon) due to its disguised appearance, additionally the serial numbers prefix is GX, representing government experimental, x prefixes were assigned to experimental firearms by Colt.
